“I started hairdressing in 2008 and went on to set up Northernroots in 2012. I love all aspects of hairdressing but have a real passion for anything super creative, whether that be a creative colour or a beautiful updo. I feel incredibly lucky to be the owner of Northernroots, most days it really doesn’t feel like work, I get to hang out with my best friends everyday, get to chat all day with my amazing clients and most importantly get to make people feel amazing about themselves! I honestly feel I have the best job in the world!”
“I started hairdressing in 2013 and joined the Northernroots team when they opened in Sowerby Bridge in 2016. This is the best decision they ever made as it turns out that every salon needs a ginger to spice it up. I love all aspects of my job, so much so that it doesn’t feel like “just going to work.” I’m so lucky to a part of this crazy team that I get to call my friends and have the amazing clients that I do, I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else! (Mainly because it’s hard to find people as weird as you are!)”
Introducing Kenneth aka shopdog! You can find Kenneth hanging out in the back, he loves cuddles and kisses, so if you’re a doggy person he will love you to go give him some fuss whist your colour is developing (far more fun than reading a magazine) but be warned, once you’ve met him, you will fall in love with him so may find yourself wanting to come to the salon more often than before!
“I moved from sunny Scarbados as the bright lights of Sowerby bridge have called me to work with the girls at Northernroots!
I've been working in salons since 2016 and love all areas of hairdressing but have a passion for creative colours and cuts.
My favourite colours to do are balayage and love it when clients walk away feeling amazing about themselves. When I’m not working on clients hair I will often be seen sporting a new colour myself as I love to mix it up! “
“I left school in 2002 to study hairdressing at Calderdale college, whilst working as an apprentice at Antony James in Halifax town centre , I continued to work for them once my apprenticeship was completed. When they decided to expand their business to a salon in Hebden Bridge I relocated to their new shop , I worked for Antony James for six years before the Hebden Bridge business was sold, I then stayed on with the new owners and the salon was renamed JKF. That is where I met the wonderful Heather (haha) I was the senior stylist at JKF for several years till Heather set up Northernroots and I decided to grace her with my presence, the rest is history … we like to set up shops in high flood risk areas and spend our time worrying every time it rains (haha)”
“I left college in 2008 after studying hair & beauty and my heart fell in to the hairdressing world. I was lucky enough to find a job in Hebden Bridge where I met Heather and Marie, I’m proud to say we went from co-workers to being the best of friends 11 years later (even though me and heather bicker like an old married couple haha). I spent 2 years building clientele and my confidence until I decided I was going to start my own mobile business. This has given me the opportunity to feel so much closer to clients, in most cases meeting members of the family which I’ve loved. 9 years on and I’m ready to be in the hustle and bustle of a salon again, working as part of the team I loved all those years ago.”
